Cron-Job.org is a free online service that enables you to visit websites at your own scheduled moments.
Cron is a command line utility on Unix type systems to schedule jobs. Word is that it originates from the word Chronos, the Greek word for time.
Cron-Job.org is very useful to automate repetitive tasks such as mailing a report or fetching and logging remote data. I have been using it some years now to build my own weather database. The Cron job visits my php script every hour. This php script fetches the OpenWeather report for my town, and logs the essential values in my database.
The Cron-Job service sends a warning if a Cron-Job fails, and you can see the status when visiting your dashboard:
Apparently somewhere in September an improvement has been made on the internet because the latency is way down.
